Have you ever thought of making your own fabric covered buttons? It never crossed my mind but now I am intrigued. This tutorial shows how to make buttons (duh!), hair clips, rings, and earrings. I'm saving up my allowance to buy some button blanks but first I have to find store that sells them. Have you seen any? Do you know of a good craft/sewing store to try?

Yes, these are awesome and totally fun. Good thing to know is that while I'm sure the buttons that are made for this are far easier and more professional looking, you can really do the same thing with any good sized smooth button. All it takes is a little bit of glue gun finess and patience. Because by the time my meager budget makes it to the fabric store it goes quick and the fancy buttons have never made the cut. But we've covered lots of buttons anyway!
