Favorite Laundry Soap Recipe

I just finished making my second batch of laundry soap and I thought I would post my favorite recipe. I prefer the powder version (I think it is easier to make/store). I previously posted it in the comment section but I thought I would bring it to light in case anyone missed it.

Powdered Laundry Detergent
1 cup grated Fels Naptha Soap
1/2 cup washing soda
1/2 cup 20 mule team borax

Mix and store in airtight container or bag.

For light loads use 1 tablespoon. For normal loads, use 2 tablespoons. For heavy loads, use 3 tablespoons.

I use anywhere from 1 tablespoon to 1 1/2 tablespoons. I find that I don't need any more than that, even for the dirtiest loads. For my next batch I want to try some Dr. Bronner's soap. Let me know if you come across a sale.

LOVE the homemade soap!! I made the "gel" type in late December and STILL have about 1/3 of the (2 gallon) bucket left!! And we do A LOT of laundry around here. :)
I'll keep an eye out for the soap for ya.... :)

So. If a certain person forgot to tell her husband to buy more of that bar soap at Winco, could he find it at Freddy's tomorrow. Not that that would happen to us..... ;)

hey, its me Gena...I am so excited that I made the time to check out your Blog..very cool...anyway, back to your soap question..you can get a bar of it at Trader Joes for 2.50 it has a slight peppermint smell..but I have used in my laundry soap and it seems to be working wonderfully,,,also, if your whites are dingy...I tried soaking them for an hour or so in the washing machine..fill your washing tub, then add a 1/2 cup white vinegar..soak, rinse..and wash as normal..quite impressive.
